Forth Estate Open Call for Entries Juried by Roberta Waddell Develop your work at Axelle Editions with master printer Luther Davis for one week. You will be given the assistance and resources to produce a limited edition silkscreen published by Forth Estate. Airfare to New York and accommodations for one week are included. Your produced edition will be shown at Forth Estate?s booth at the 2009 Editions and Artist?s Books Fair in New York and included in upcoming Forth Estate exhibitions. No prior printmaking experience required. Eligibility: This opportunity is open to any artist within the continental United States. The winner will have the opportunity to develop their work at Axelle Editions with master printer Luther Davis for one week. During this time they will be given the assistance and resources to produce a limited edition silkscreen. Airfare to New York and accommodations for one week are included in the prize. The produced edition will be shown at Forth Estate?s booth at the 2009 Editions and Artist?s Books Fair in New York and will also be included in upcoming Forth Estate exhibitions. About Forth Estate: Forth Estate Editions was founded in 2005 by Luther Davis and Glen Baldridge in the interest of producing editioned works by emerging artists using both traditional and technologically innovative approaches to printmaking. Since its inception, Forth Estate has remained committed to providing unique opportunities to young artists to expand their body of work by incorporating small run print editions. Works produced by Forth Estate have been included in such public collections as The New York Public Library, The Museum of Modern Art, The Whitney Museum of American Art, The Newark Public Library, Museum of Fine Arts Boston, and The Jundt Art Museum. About the Juror: Roberta Waddell developed a highly revered collection during her time as the Curator of Prints at The New York Public Library from 1985 until 2008. Preceding this she served as Curator of Prints at the Worcester Art Museum and Curator of Graphic Arts at The Toledo Museum of Art. In all three positions, Dr. Waddell has shown a special interest in supporting contemporary art and artists. She was recently honored by the International Print Center New York for her contributions as a print curator. Processing Fee: Each artist may submit up to 5 images with a processing fee of $40 USD. All payments rendered through Google checkout on the Forth Estate website, www.forthestate.com. Processing fee is non-refundable, and the Google checkout confirmation number must be included with the completed application. Application: Email contact information (full name, address, phone number, and email), Google checkout confirmation number and up to 5 attached images in any medium, image documentation sheet, 1 page biography in Word format, and 250 word project proposal to opencall@forthestate.com. Only emailed applications will be considered. Images must meet the following image requirements: Images are to be in jpeg format. 1000 pixels in its largest dimension (width or height). Resolution of 72 dpi. The images should offer clear, accurate, professional, and honest representation of the work. Images are to be titled in the following format: LastName_FirstName_ImageNumber.jpg EXAMPLE: smith_william_01.jpg EXAMPLE: smith_william_02.jpg Image documentation is to be included on a separate word document and not in the images. Images that do not meet image requirements will be disqualified. Calendar Entry deadline: July 3, 2009 (includes receipt of all required materials / payments) Acceptance notification post: September 15, 2009 Selections made by blind jury solely on presented artwork and written proposal. Notification: Selected artist will be notified via email by September 15, 2009. Selected artist will be posted on the Forth Estate website, www.forthestate.com
