NEW YORK, NY APRIL 2009 – The Fashion Institute of Technology is
pleased to announce, Dialogue 23, a group exhibition of work by the twentythree
2009 Fine Art BFA graduates. The exhibit will be held in The Great Hall
in D Building, which is located at 7th Avenue at 27th Street in New York City.
Dialogue: 23 will be on view from May 7 to May 19, 2009 with an opening
reception held on Thursday, May 7 from 6pm to 9pm.

s the exhibition’s title suggests, each artist’s mature and personal vision has
developed in part through four years of dialogue between peers both in and
outside the studio. The artists in Dialogue: 23 are: Vika Adutov, Demetrio
Belenky, Jennifer Bell, Helen Carabajal, Alessandra DeLaCruz, Rosa
Filingeri, Julie Moon Finkler, Matt Gannon, Kathleen Granados, Yeonbin
Jeong, Walter Lucena, Aleksandra Markovich, Jose Pichardo, Cristina
Razzano, Sandrine Ronvaux, Christianna Soumakis, Marcin Szprengiel,
Inna Tkach, Maria Tsaguriya, Regina Valentino, Heidi Wenzel and Tabitha
Ann- Whitley.
While, The Fashion Institute of Technology may be better known for fashion than for Fine Art,
this group of emerging international artists demonstrate that artists from FIT will certainly
suggest some of the exciting new directions contemporary art will be taking in the future.
Having been guided by an esteemed and established faculty of working artists, these young
talents exhibit large-scale work in a wide variety of mediums and materials that demonstrates
the dramatically personalized education they have received.
The cultural diversity and range in ages of the artists makes for an exciting collection of works.
Techniques including sewing, welding, casting, and materials from the more traditional oil and
acrylic to those for industrial use, are all represented. Whether the work is surreal,
representational, political, abstract, minimal, conceptual or some unique unnamable
combination of styles and influences, a seriousness of purpose is evident in each artist’s work.
Their fresh ideas and unique visions truly make these twenty-three newest graduates of FIT,
emerging artists to keep your eyes on.
