Founded in 1998 by choreographer Chris Elam, Misnomer Dance Theater is a modern dance company that finds hope, humor, and absurdity in peoples' efforts to relate to one another. Elam devises exchanges—whether between adolescent sisters, estranged lovers, or animalistic creatures—that alternately produce moments of poignant tenderness or dismal misunderstandings.
