Ximena Garnica Co-director of CAVE Organization ( is director/co-founder of the NY Butoh Festival and LUDUS educational program). She is in the dance faculty of P.H.T.S, New York University, Tisch school of the Arts, Department of Drama. She holds a B.A. in Theater from the City College of NY, and graduated from the Tenshikan Dance Institute (Tokyo, 2007). Recipient of the prestigious Van Lier Fellowship for young Hispanic directors in NY, the Bessie Schonberg Choreographers’ Residency at The Yard, and of the the highly regarded three-year HERE residency. She and LEIMAY have received support from: The Urban Artist Initiative (UAI/NYC), Robert Wilsonʼs Watermill Center, The Asian American Arts Alliance, and the Japan Foundation. Her company has been selected to be part of BAM’s Professional Development program (’12-’13), which will culminate with the premier of Ximena’s new piece at the new Theater Space at the BAM Richard B. Fisher Building in September 2013. Her work has been presented around the globe in galleries and theaters of all sizes in Colombia, Japan, Mexico, France, Spain, Netherlands and the US. She had lead master classes and lectures at Denison University, Skidmore College, DeSales University, Muhlenberg College and the Academia Superior de Artes de Bogota.
