Growing up in the rural U.S. with freedom at my heels, large open spaces were the landscape of my experience ? in the woods I found old community dumps, car cemeteries, deer beds, milk-weed, 2 x 4s nailed to trees for the hunter's ladder. Discovery existed just behind my 1900s sears mail ordered house.
With this history, I create objects and images through a discovery of pattern in peoples' and nature's structure and in the reaction of my own materials. My current series of work incorporates fabric monoprints, drawings and sculpture that look at the patterns of building, particularly in the Greek common era and the pattern of crocheting, weaving, braided rugs and quilting that uses a similar structure of making.
