In this most recent work I have chosen to use Sumi ink as it lends itself beautifully to this fast and loosely improvised approach to drawing. The simplicity of this material allows for an unencumbered conduction of energy channeled through an opening of the mind. The mind?s vocabulary is endless and my accumulation of cultural images, personal experiences and references escape via this conduction of energy. As an instrument, I relate to the idea of improvisation as each of these drawings begin with a few quick gestures and then, just as in music, I begin to play with those first shapes to create a new composition. At times the imagery may reflect something of a technologically infused landscape or, if so inclined, an apocalyptical one. The communion with viewer becomes one of shared experience, a transfer of information as energy.
