Daryl-Ann Saunders began as a self-taught photographer and then studied at The School of Visual Arts and The International Center of Photography in New York. She utilizes traditional, digital and alternative photo processes including pinhole camera, Polaroid transfer, toning and hand coloring.
Exhibited nationally, Daryl-Ann's fine art work is in the corporate collection of Pfizer, Inc., GE Corporation as well as other collections, corporate and private.
In her fine art work, she concentrates on several portfolios of fine-art imagery: "Beyond the Platform", (night-time color images taken from subway platforms in cities throughout the world), "Urban Orchestra", (exploration of positive/ negative juxtapositions in architecture) in addition to imagery of suburban / urban settings and leisure rituals such as baseball, beach-going, etc.
The last two years have been devoted to working on "Pioneers of Bushwick", a portrait/ text series of longtime residents in Bushwick, Brooklyn, as part of SPARC (Seniors Partnering with Artists Citywide), an artist-residency program sponsored by the Brooklyn Arts Council, NYC Dept of the Aging, NYC Dept of Cultural Affairs and National Endowment for the Arts.
