G. LIGAIYA ROMERO is a photographer and filmmaker working primarily with web-first documentary storytelling. Originally from New York, she graduated from the University of California, Los Angeles with dual degrees in Film Production and International Development. As a Director of Photography, Ligaiya has worked on documentary films exploring life in the shantytowns of Brazil, the presidential elections in El Salvador, and the art of translating poetry in Mexico. She has worked on projects recognized by the SXSW Interactive Awards, College Photographer of the Year and the New York Photo Awards, among others. Ligaiya is currently a Roy H. Park fellow, pursuing a Master’s degree in Visual Communication at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill.
