Candice Sering is a Manhattan born, Queens raised, Bronx educated, Brooklyn based Filipina artist. She studied art at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, taught languages in San Juan, Puerto Rico and the Bay Area, is a former member of the Booklyn Artists Collective where she taught book arts to communities, and created murals with NYC youth through the Groundswell Community Mural Project. She is currently a member of the NY chapter of GABRIELA, a Filipina women’s organization. Through practicing Theater of the Oppressed techniques, she collaboratively developed and directed original theatrical productions to tell stories with diverse inter-generational Filipina women and women victims of labor trafficking.
