Mary has directed two short films that have played at the Palm Springs International Festival and LA Shorts festival. She has completed writing three feature scripts: Molly Carter, Sandanista, and Natives, as well as an original pilot. She is currently working on her fourth feature script, in addition to two short films.
Fascinated by film and filmmaking from an early age, she made her first movie at fifteen using her mother's Hi8 camera and a VCR. It was a horror movie about a high school girl who murders all of her friends in a fit of jealousy, told from the villian's point of view. She then went on to make several abstract works while at Bard College in both film and digital mediums. She experimented with super 8 and 16mm formats often hand-processing, drawing, and scratching the film. She rounded out her education with an MFA from the University of Southern California in screenwriting. She focused her time there on narrative structure and character development.
When she's not looking off into space and stuck in divination, she works in post-production.
