SHANNON GILLEN received her BFA from The Juilliard School where her choreography was produced at Alice Tully Hall, the Peter J. Sharp Theater, and the Clark Studio Theater. Upon graduating, Gillen studied Meisner acting at the Maggie Flanigan Studio and served as choreographer to theater company Sintroca on Lasanta, a multi-disciplinary work, premiering at the Ontological-Hysterics Theater. She went on to present original work at the International Dance Festival, Oltre Passo in Lecce, Italy. In 2008, Gillen was awarded an artist in residency at Dance New Amsterdam, where she founded Shannon Gillen & Guests (SGG). SGG has presented original work with Dance New Amsterdam's Splice, at 14 Wall Street with the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council, DNA's 25th Anniversary Gala, and most recently presented a work in progress of the company's latest work WALL, with Movement Research at Dance Theater Workshop; WALL will be presented at several international galleries in 2010/11. Gillen was selected to choreograph this year for REVERB Festival 2010 and will premiere, 'eluvium' at Purchase College and at Alvin Ailey in September. Gillen was also invited to the international choreographic festival Springboard Danse in Montreal, where she premiered 'GABBRO' at Usine C. As co-founder of celebrated dance theater company DOORKNOB, Gillen has also created and performed works for Dance Theater Workshop's Fresh Tracks, Dance New Amsterdam's Raw and Object Series, HERE's American Living Room Festival, LMCC's Sitelines as part of NYC's River to River Festival, the Wave Rising Festival at the John Ryan Theater, was a finalist in Joyce SoHo's The A.W.A.R.D. Show 2009 and recently returned to Joyce SoHo for the sold-out premiere of 'WE ARE HERE AFTER'.
