My work is an investigation into form and abstraction. This investigation stems from an interest in the patterns of the natural and the man-made. I have developed a set of forms that are combined in order to examine the relationships and patterns that occur through their interaction. Forms are cast from three sets of colored slips. Saturation of color decreases as the scale increases much in the same way that our understanding dilutes as we consider larger ideas. Numerical limits influence the development of form, though complexity arises from just a few variables. The balance between simplicity and complexity allows for the same basic form is used to make not only my sculptural work, but also cups, ewers, vases, jars and a variety of other functional objects.
