The Cocoon Project is a NYC-based collaborative that documents and performs the hand-crafted Cocoons with dancers, video projections, sound and music in site-specific performance-installations. The Cocoon is a sheer, stretchy enclosure made of colorful spandex and a zipper. Loosely choreographed, performers use gestures, poses and noises to express ideas about form and movement in space and memory. Community workshops invite people of all ages to get inside the Cocoon for a unique experience. The Cocoon Project has been developing workshops for children and young adults in neighborhoods of Brooklyn and Detroit, MI to explore the benefits of the Cocoon.
