Robin Michals is a photographer whose work has focused on the de-industrialized urban waterfront since 2007. For the last three years, she has been working on a series of photographs titled Castles Made of Sand of the places around New York City that will be impacted by sea level rise. Her series “Toxi City: Brooklyn’s Brownfields” was exhibited at the Brooklyn Lyceum in 2009 with support from the Brooklyn Arts Council and the Puffin Foundation. She is an Associate Professor at New York City College of Technology where she teaches photography. Her work can be seen at
