Chia-Ying Kao is a Taiwanese artist, she seeks to experiment with the blending of Eastern and Western dance forms, fine tune her aesthetic vision and concepts, and expand her understanding of the cultural and artistic impulses driving the evolution of modern dance worldwide.
Her work has been presented at Triskelion Arts, Center for Performance Research, Chen Dance Center, Page Auditorium at the Duke University, Queens Public Library Auditorium, Northport Library, Tribeca Film Festival, NYC Union Square (dance and installation), Rouelette and New York Chinese Consolidated Benevolent Association.
Chia-Ying is the recipient of the 2012-2013 TOPAZ ARTS Choreography Residency Program and was invited to take part in the 2012 ICR at the American Dance Festival-Henan, China. In April 2013, Chia Ying premiered a new work “The Strange Wait” originally commissioned by Ear to the Ground program of NY’s Chen Dance Center. In June 2013, Chia Ying was selected to participate International Choreographer’s Residency at American Dance Festival where she choreographed a work “Gateways” and she also taught a master class.
