Michael Juliano "MikeAlike" has had several different monikers, (m87, k.drone), he is a multi disciplinary artist, born and raised (no lie) in the art community of Chicago, now living in New York.
The primary focus originally was songwriting, recording while achieving minor commercial status with FM play, club charting. Presently over the past few years the focus has shifted to film and installation. His music has been featured an artists (Hunter Reynolds) series via Momenta Gallery in Brooklyn, and is currently slotted for use in a short film. He has been writing and drafting plans for both film and installation for a few years till now, recently learning how to edit and craft moving pictures and is prepared to create.
His influences vary drawing from social perspectives, sexual oppression, becoming disenfranchised, to cultural movements, politics and the surreal, generally as an artist "I" tend to remove the verbiage and add the pop to give a more anonymous approach to contextual expressions. Mechanisms and the subversion of demographics by commercialism have inspired Michael Juliano to reconfigure marketing tactics and the use of peoples as tools for profit to create works which confront such oft times subdued actions, hidden within a packaging front.
