Lindsay C. Harris is a multimedia artist, writer, and educator originally from New Mexico. She holds a B.A. in Africana Studies and Art from Vassar College and M.A. in Arts Politics from NYU Tisch School of the Arts. Coming from a background in performance and comedy, she uses visual stimulation and often comic bizarre to explore issues of identity, place, longing and community.
Since 2012, Lindsay has been working on Evoking the Mulatto, a multiplatform narrative and visual art project exploring black mixed identity in the 21st century, through the lens of the history of racial classification in the United States. Featuring filmed interviews with young biracial artists and activists, photographic portraits, and historical mappings, this video art project seeks to address a relevant contemporary issue by glimpsing at its chronicle.
Lindsay is currently a teaching artist and museum educator in NYC.
