I like to make all kinds of work. Lately I have been concentrating on drawing. I work on large pieces of paper tacked up on the wall, drawing with ink and colored pencils. I use many strong colors all at once. When all of the colors are bold, new rules emerge. Hues of equal intensity in close proximity overwhelm traditional color combinations and enable a new level of stasis to develop. Surrealism and psychic automatism are in my thoughts as I draw closed forms with a continuous line, often suggestive of stained glass. These distinct shapes of color form a variegated plane vibrating with saturation. I am interested in the fluid use of organic line as both a design element and a spatial indicator. My shapes speak to the botanic, aquatic, and corporeal forms that inhabit our world.
