Erika Diehl (American, b. 1976) grew up in relative isolation in the mountains of rural Southeastern Alaska. Diehl paints about painting, about the act of looking, the dialectic of interior and exterior and the experience of time through color. Evocative of landscape and vaguely anthropomorphic, her paintings occupy a space between representation and abstraction.
Diehl received her Bachelor of Art in Painting from Portland State University, Portland OR in 2011, and her Master of Fine Arts from the Hoffberger School of Painting at the Maryland Institute College of Art in 2013. She lives and works in Brooklyn.
