Melissa Gawlowski is Brooklyn-based playwright and arts educator. Her New York playwriting credits include: Spring Tides (Boomerang Theatre Company, also Last Frontier Theatre Conference, Alaska; Cardboard Box Collaborative, Philadelphia), Release (Full Circle Theater Company, National AATE/ATHE Conference), The Incredible Journey (Boomerang Theatre Company’s Rock ‘N’ Roles), The Frankophile (City Attic Theatre), The Cellar (5th Annual Festival of Samhain; Semi-finalist, 2007 Strawberry One-Act Festival; also OG Productions, Columbus, OH), Ice Holes (City Attic Theatre), Mimi Meets Her Match (The 52nd Street Project), and Metis (a collaboration with Marie Evelyn, presented at the Tank and in the Txt Fst series). Other plays: The Summer That God Paid a Visit to Hell (Hong Kong Cultural Center, Hong Kong), The True Story of Harold Tubbsman (Region III American College Theatre Festival), and A Beer Goggle Aria (Finalist, Collaboraction Sketchbook Festival, Chicago). Past and present affiliations include: Literary and Education Coordinator of Premiere Stages, Resident Playwright and Literary Manager of City Attic Theatre in NYC, Co-director of Dialogue-as-Performance of Analogous, Inc., and Program Associate of Educational Partnerships at Lincoln Center Institute. Currently a member of the inaugural fellowship for "Emerging Leaders" in arts administration with the New York Foundation for the Arts. Playwriting MFA from Ohio University; PhD (in-process) in Educational Theatre at New York University.
