Maya Erdelyi is a NYC and LA based animator and artist. She creates intricate hand-made animations and collages inspired by imaginary worlds, memories and the subconscious. Maya’s award-winning animations utilize a hybrid approach to cut-paper stop-motion, puppetry, drawn and computer animation mixing low and hi-tech aesthetics and approaches. Shown in various national and international film festivals and museums, including the “New Cannonball Blues” music video for TV on the Radio, part of a longer format film nominated for a 2012 Grammy Award for Best Long Form Music Video. Maya is a 2012 MFA graduate in Experimental Animation from CalArts, and is a director through 6PointMedia, a Hollywood Animation Studio. Maya recently won the Barbara Aronfsky Latham award for Emerging Video Artist at the 2013 Ann Arbor Film Festival. She is currently illustrating a Hans Christian Andersen fairytale completely in paper-cuts.
