My introduction to photography came through nature. When I was young my middle school library updated its collections of geography and nature books. They were up for grabs. That week I took home almost 50 field guides and compulsively studied the landscapes, animals, and cultures from various countries around the world. These books heightened my curiosity for the world around me. The City of Allen slowly started putting water treatment chemicals in the water to get rid of the snakes and mice that lived in the reads by the pond. The water turned a blue color, similar to a toilet bowl with Clorox in it. Surrounded by suburbs, the city moved large bulldozers in and dredged the reeds. The water soon turned into a foamy, apocalyptic gumbo. I am particularly interested in the way that human activity affects the environment and biodiversity.
