Alana Aviel is a New-York based artist whose body of work reflects the intersection of analog and digital, drawing on her traditional training in the design methods of architecture and respect for the dynamic visual aspects of film.
Though Alana’s academic career began at the University of Southern California-School of Cinema Television, Alana has been a 35mm film projectionist for over 15 years at small and large house cinemas like the Honolulu Academy of Arts and the Hawaii International Film Festival.
Alana’s persistent passion for Architecture led her to the University of Hawaii—where over the course of 7 years she utilized traditional methods of woodworking and fabrication to create modern form designs.
Her academic venture culminated with in depth research into the emerging field of Projection Mapping in New York City—where she now creates interactive projection mapped sculptural canvas with utilizing her digital motion art.
Alana launches the next stage of her career with Figure 1 Collective. Alana will continue formulating and implementing projection map projects for permanent installations, photo shoots and feature films. She also is initiating an expansion of art direction and her furniture repertoire through the inspiration of the talented collection of artists housed at Figure 1
