Dain Andrew Mergenthaler

Log-in to Favorite

Dain's work is informed by the landscapes of labor that have surrounded him in the cities he has lived and worked in: Baltimore, Detroit, and Brooklyn. Drawing from the gendered histories, forms, and functions of the stuff of labor and leisure, Dain recontextualizes and queers what is around him to make sense of it all. He holds an MFA from Cranbrook Academy of Art and a BFA from Maryland Institute College of art, both in fiber. Originally from Baltimore, Maryland, he now lives in Brooklyn, New York, and has traveled around the country for residencies, workshops, and exhibitions including Haystack Mountain School of Crafts, Vermont Studio Center, and ACRE Residency in a perpetual quest to find the balance between fun and shitty through parties and construction.
