Karen Mainenti is a visual artist, working in painting and mixed media, whose art focuses on examining overlooked, commonplace objects, whether it’s vintage beauty products or defunct nineteenth century train tracks. Sometimes quirky, frequently disturbing, her reimagined art highlights the enduring significance of commercial and industrial products on contemporary life.

Her work has been exhibited, most recently, at the 2014 DUMBO Arts Festival in Brooklyn, and in a solo show at Chashama's pop-up gallery in Manhattan's Garment District. In addition, her work was selected by Lauren Hinkson of the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum for the summer exhibition at the Brooklyn Waterfront Artists Coalition (BWAC). Other exhibitions in New York City include Recession Art, Family Business and A.I.R. Gallery. In 2013, she attended the School of Visual Arts Summer Residency Program in Painting & Mixed Media, and was a visiting artist at the Tulsa Girls Art School in Tulsa, OK.
