Born and raised in Massachusetts, Justine Hill moved to New York City in 2011 with a MFA from the University of Pennsylvania. Hill purposefully chose painting as her medium and works to attempt to continue that specific dialogue. All her paintings can be categorized as abstract and made with acrylic mixed with charcoal and pencil. Hill’s first show post-graduate school was in January 2013—a group show celebrating the ‘assistant’ in Chelsea. This was followed by Spark at the Cantor Art Gallery in Massachusetts, featuring artwork by 8 women alumni. Then Currently Untitled displayed work of 4 painters, and was well received according to the Huffington Post, which congratulated the work for “pushing the field forward.” Most recently were two solo shows at galleries in Chelsea, New York.
