Raised in Brooklyn, NY I attended Saint Ann’s School from first grade through high school, which fosters a creative and nurturing environment for students. I began ballet training at age 6 at Neubert Ballet, and performed with the Neubert Ballet company while in high school. I continued ballet training at the Princeton Ballet School while I attended Princeton University, earning a Bachelor’s degree in English Literature and a Certificate in Theater and Dance. While at Princeton I also studied under Ze’eva Cohen and discovered modern dance and choreography. My senior at Princeton year I choreographed a Senior Thesis Project in Dance.
I then intensified my ballet training and became a professional dancer for ten years. I danced in classical ballet companies such as Albany Berkshire Ballet and Eglevsky Ballet as well as Rebecca Kelly Ballet, a contemporary ballet company. With The Rebecca Kelly Ballet I taught creative movement to kids at Ms. Kelly’s summer camp in Lake Placid. During the academic year I had also begun teaching ballet and working part time at Steps on the Upper West Side. Towards the end of my professional dancing years I decided to accept a full time position at The School at Steps where I taught a wide variety of ages and levels and was Manager of Student Programs for 8 years. In this capacity I saw the school grow from a small recreational program to a serious training program for pre-professional students. I learned about a wide variety of dance forms from working closely with the faculty in various disciplines.
This past summer I was accepted into the Lincoln Center Scholars Program in partnership with Hunter College, where I am earning a Master’s Degree in Dance Education, with an expected graduation date of May 2016.
