Representing Japan,Jamaica,Africa and Haiti, introducing
This World Roots band" Brown Rice Family" is a high-energy, eight-member ensemble that combines an eclectic mix of musical influences encompassing Reggae, Hip-hop, Brazilian, Afro-beat, Jazz, Rock, Latin, and Funk.
With its members hailing from all over the world, "Brown Rice Family" draws on its diverse backgrounds to create a colorful, rhythm-driven, and highly danceable sound.
BRF firmly believes in self-improvement and environmental improvement, and so the collective is perpetually seeking out healthier ways of living, grooving, and eating.
BRF took Japan by storm during their summer 2014 tour, wowing hundreds who watched them during their live performance in Tokyo and Osaka. "BRF is bridging cultures together while creating a fun atmosphere within improvisation. Amazing...," wrote Vogue Japan.
In tradition with BRF’s positive contribution to music and the world, the band has teamed up with Carnegie Hall’s Professional Development Series with a music program that’s geared towards improving the lives of NYC’s incarcerated youths. As such we have added a number of workshops to follow our performances.
