My name is Dolores Furtado, I´m a sculptor. I was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina. I live and work in Brooklyn.
I studied in Buenos Aires. In 2011, I integrated the Artist´s Program at Universidad Di Tella.
In 2013 I was invited to a residency in Newfoundland, Canada, where I made an outdoors piece.
Until moving to NY two years ago, I showed my work in Argentina. Since then, I showed at galleries and cultural centers in Chelsea, Gowanus, Lower East Side, and made a site specific sculpture for GIAF 2015.
This summer I will by showing at Governors Island Art Fair 2016.
I´m currently participating in NYFA Immigrant Artist program.
My work is the result of my interest in matter itself; I work largely with formlessness, and I expose it in a raw, naked way. Matter becomes body.
In a wide range of formats and sizes, my work highlights process, through tactile marks, scratches, and object-based prints.
