Toni Blackman, the first US Hip Hop Ambassador, is currently a teaching artist at Carnegie Hall and hosts The Cypher Workshop, a freestyle vibe session for MCs, poets & vocalists, at Hi-Arts NYC. Featured in Forbes Magazine, on CENTRIC television, MTV, VH1 and on the Tom Joyner Morning Show, Toni is the world’s leading expert on Cyphers and has shared stages with the likes of Erykah Badu, Yasiin Bey, the Roots, Vernon Reid, Meshell, Sarah McLachlan, Sheryl Crow, Onaje Allan Gumbs, and Youssou Ndour. A pioneer in both Hip Hop theater and Hip Hop Education, Toni is one of the world's most foremost Hip Hop activists. Many include her as one of their influences. This multi-talented - writer, actress, director, poet and MC/rap lyricist - has dedicated her career to creating spaces and platform for other artists to connect, collaborate and develop themselves as artists and citizens of this world. She is completing her new book Wisdom of the Cypher along with the Meditation Mixtape Series, her Hip Hop Meditation project and preparing both for release.
