Gabriel Mayers is a Singer-Songwriter from Brooklyn, NY. He is largely known for performing in the subway, as featured in the film How to let go of the world (and love all the things climate can’t change) and the popular YouTube series: ‘Buskers’. Most of his recordings are filmed on location, outside of the comfort of the sound booth. This is not an Album’ is Gabriel’s first studio release. It was recorded in Brooklyn, New York with Bassist/Producer Jason Mercer and Singer/Guitarist Annie Keating.
Gabriel first picked up the guitar at age 17. He immediately dedicated himself to learning the craft of songwriting, following some of his personal heroes: John Lennon, Kurt Cobain and Bob Dylan. Gabriel got his performing start playing in the subways of New York City, making a living from the donations of passersby.
In 2012 he recorded several videos for Brooklyn based artist and media professional Brett Paine Murphy's Youtube video series Buskrs, in which he was characteristically pictured playing underground. In 2014 Gabriel was asked to fly to Hollywood by Grammy Nominee Linda Perry, to star in a reality series about songwriters entitled Make or Break: The Linda Perry Project.
In 2016 he was featured in Oscar Nominee Josh Fox’s documentary How to let go of the world (and love all the things climate can’t change). That same year, Gabriel’s original song, Sixty Charisma Scented Blackbirds would be placed on the 2017 Academy Awards shortlist for Best Original Song.
