I was born and currently work in Brooklyn. My education was both here and in Canada. My art education began conventionally with drawing and painting, but experiences with a variety of other mediums soon led to experimenting with clay and other sculptural materials. All this mixing of materials served to expand my visual vocabulary and allow me greater range of expression.
I have been combining these inclinations with my interests in and thoughts about history and social and physical sciences. The resulting work tends toward the figurative and the narrative, although other strands of a more abstract or sensual nature also emerge.
My art practice has also informed and been informed by my practice as an art educator. I currently provide mentoring and facilitate professional development for art teachers in New York City. I am also active in several arts organizations.
