Mandana Mapar is a Brooklyn based artist and curator. Graduating with a BFA in Fine Art, from the Queensland College of Art with an interdisciplinary studio practice focus, her work explores notions of memory and transience through personal memento mori, found objects, photographs, historic documents and research based work delving into archival materials at museums and places of curiosity.
Mapar has worked as a curator in museums and galleries in Australia, and her artwork reflects the parallel career course with a deep understanding of postcolonial discourse. In her work she
she explores the contestation of meaning, the disappearance of historical narratives as a result of colonial paradigms, working actively to redress the erasure of letters, photographs and historical accounts created throughout history by women, indigenous and marginalized communities.
Mandana lives and works in Brooklyn.
