Dave Hanson is an actor, television writer and internationally produced and published playwright known for his work on Chelsea Lately (E!), Inside Amy Schumer (Comedy Central) and his play Waiting For Waiting For Godot.
Dave is also an adjunct professor at Emerson College teaching improvisation, sketch writing and comedy writing for late night television. He is also a guest lecturer at NYU and Rutgers University, leading discussion on dramatic and creative writing.
Dave attended Whittier College in California studying Theatre and English Literature. After graduating Dave attended The Oxford School of Drama summer program in England and began his acting and writing career in Los Angeles. Through out his nearly twenty year professional career working in digital media, broadcast and scripted television, film and theatre, Dave has always focused his energy on improv comedy and sketch comedy writing, having completed his study at UCB (NY/LA), IO West and The Second City, LA. This has led Dave to a career as a comedic actor, writer for late night television and a teacher instructing in all things comedy.
Dave moved to NYC in 2011 and has found success not only acting but writing for the theatre as published and produced playwright whose biggest work, the hit comedy Waiting For Waiting For Godot has received international and regional productions in a comedy the New York Times called "Delectable".
Dave believes an arts education is what exposes each generation to sympathy, empathy and compassion as we learn to recognize our own humanity in others. Encouragement through adversity of an education offers students the tools they need to believe in themselves, to overcome the challenges of learning a craft and become masters of their own art and career. This is the corner stone of Dave's teaching philosophy.
