I am an Italian theatre director, actor and acting teacher.
I founded the award-winning Italian theater company, Teatro del Disìo, and the Montreal-based International School of Italian Theatre “Giovanni Grasso” which is ideally-suited for North American students of acting and lyrical singing (www.scuolagiovannigrasso.com).
I specialize in Commedia dell’Arte, all types of mask theatre, improvisation and European acting techniques (J. Lecoq, R. Laban, O. Costa, M.Chekhov).
I have been leading workshops for professional actors and teen/audult students for almost a decade, such as Truth in Motion Workshop or Mask Acting Workshop (https://youtu.be/Rq3uszPxFqw).
As an actor I have appeared in Botho Strauss’s Odissea, doppio ritorno (directed by Luca Ronconi), Francesca Angeli’s Benvenuti in California (directed by Marco Plini) and A Midsummer Night’s Dream (directed by Alessandro Fabrizi).
My directing credits include Vitaliano Trevisan’s Oscillazioni, Cymbeline (publication of my annotated translation into Italian is forthcoming), Euripides’ The Bacchae, Aristophanes’ The Assemblywomen and a production of Don Quixote based on Cervantes’ novel.
