TUESDAY 7/22NEW! 7:30pm- Art Talks Brooklyn683 Washington Avenue, Brooklyn, NY 11238A new speaker series highlighting Brooklyn Arts initiatives and programs. Monthly, we will invite three speakers, each allotted 15 minutes, to share how they are impacting our community through the arts. Founded in 2011, Shoestring Press serves artists in Crown Heights with work space, technical expertise, gallery exhibitions, critical engagement, and intellectual community. We've built a community of 25 working member artists and wider range of performers, workshop participants, exhibitors, and friends on the premise proving that making art should be an open process, one that is visible to the community and affordable to anyone who wants to participate in visual culture.LaunchPad is a grassroots, free-form gathering space in Crown Heights, Brooklyn. Focusing on the arts and community building, LaunchPad encourages people to get together, exchange ideas and collaborate on projects. We support and assist artists in diverse mediums while facilitating local neighborhood revitalization efforts. Programs and offerings are open to the public, and admission is always a suggested donation. LaunchPad provides a uniquely animated hub where neighbors can actively engage with art while interacting with the community. Christopher Mulé joined BAC in March 2014. He earned his M.A in Folklore and Ethnomusicology at Indiana University, Bloomington. Prior to formally joining BAC, he served as the Deputy Director and Director of Folklife at Staten Island Arts (formerly COAHSI). In addition to BAC, Mr. Mulé serves on the Board of Directors for the Ghanaian Association of Staten Island, a Liberian service organization called Napela, and as the Vice President of the Board of Directors for the New York Folklore Society (NYFS).
