Brooklyn Arts Council is hiring a versatile set of Brooklyn-based Teaching Artists for residency opportunities in K-12 classrooms and Older Adult Centers across Brooklyn in 2026!

 

ABOUT

Brooklyn Arts Council (BAC) is hiring a versatile set of Brooklyn-based Teaching Artists (TA's) for residency opportunities in K-12 classrooms and Older Adult Centers across Brooklyn in 2026!

BAC pairs Teaching Artists with residencies in a variety of disciplines at schools and older adult centers throughout Brooklyn. Residencies are approximately 10-14 weeks and will take place between January and June 2026.

BAC TA’s have access to professional development opportunities, and through BAC and Arts in Education Roundtable and Materials for the Arts.

We are primarily seeking applications for:

  • In-School Residencies (K-12 in-school and afterschool residencies)

  • Creative Aging: SU- CASA (older adult center residencies)

Applications OPEN: September 4, 2025
Applications CLOSE: September 28, 2025 at 11:59pm EST

Join the Brooklyn Arts Council Arts in Education team for a virtual or in-person info session about our current open call for 2026 teaching artists! We will share more details about the application process and host a Q&A for any relevant questions. We will walk you through:

  • The application format.

  • Tips on completing a successful application

  • Scoring rubric and how eligible applications will be evaluated.

Brooklyn Arts Council (BAC) invites you to a virtual workshop designed to support artists preparing to apply for our 2026 residency opportunities in K-12 schools and Older Adult Centers in designing their application materials.

In this hands-on session, the BAC Arts in Education team will guide participants through best practices in:

  • Designing clear, engaging, and curriculum-aligned lesson plans.

  • Framing your teaching experience and artistic practice effectively on a CV.

  • Understanding what evaluators look for in strong applications.

  • Aligning your materials with our 2026 Teaching Artist Open Call.

Applications for the 2026 school year will open on September 4th and close on September 28th.

Please review our application guidelines to make sure you are eligible.

All applications will be reviewed by a panel of BAC Staff, Education professionals, OAC administrators, and community leaders. Priority consideration will be given to applicants who can teach in multiple disciplines, can teach in a second language (as needed), and those that are applying for both opportunities. Finalists will be invited to a participate in a Teaching Arists Demo.
