Arts in Action: Songwriting and Social Justice
Teaching Artist: Emma Alabaster
5 Tuesdays, 10:30 – 11:45am
Begins August 4
In this 5 week series of hands-on workshops for students ages 8-12, students will learn some elements of music composition and lyric writing. Participants will respond to some examples of the great protest tradition, with a focus on artists of color making songs in relationship with current social justice movements. Collectively, students in the workshop will choose a social justice issue that they are passionate about and develop at least one original song.
