Join us for BAC Unlocked, an open house designed to connect artists, teaching artists, and creative professionals with valuable resources, funding insights, and opportunities for collaboration. Explore our art supply closet, learn about BAC programs, network with fellow creatives, and take part in hands-on workshops.

Shop Our Art Supply Closet — Browse and take home free art materials for your artistic and teaching practices.
Creative Learning Information Sharing — Learn about BAC’s Creative Learning programs and how to apply as a Teaching Artist (TA). Scan QR codes or speak directly with BAC staff.
Grants Information Sharing — Get insights on applying for BAC’s artist grants, learn how to become a grant panelist, and understand what makes a strong application.
Cultural Heritage Advisory Group (CHAG) Recruitment — Find out how to get involved with CHAG and its initiatives.
Brooklyn Innovation Institute (BII) Content Screenings (1:00 PM – 4:00 PM) — Enjoy curated screenings of BII content, including BOSS, STYLE, and both seasons of Brooklyn Innovation Studios.
Snacks & Chill — Enjoy complimentary snacks and connect with fellow artists in our communal kitchen space.
Engage in hands-on learning and professional development:
Create Mosaics (2:00 PM – 2:45 PM) — Drop in and create mosaics with BAC Teaching Artist, Ariana Swei, experiencing a taste of our Creative Learning classes.
Ariana Swei is an artist and educator based in Brooklyn. With a background in both visual art and theater, they are excited by interdisciplinary modes of art-making and arts education. They are committed to culturally-responsive teaching, facilitating student-driven projects, and using art for self and community empowerment.
Cultivating an Effective Funding Strategy (Presentation 4:00 PM – 4:30 PM | Q&A 4:30 PM - 5:00 PM) — Learn how to develop a strong funding strategy as an artist and get your questions answered by a funding expert.
One-on-One Coaching with BAC Executive Director, Rasu Jilani — We’re excited to offer a limited number of one-on-one coaching sessions with our Executive Director, Rasu Jilani. This is a chance to have a 20-minute conversation with Rasu about your artistic career, goals, and strategy. Please note, this offering is intended for leaders of small organizations and collectives.
How it works: There will be 4-6 slots available. A short form to indicate interest is provided on the Eventbrite RSVP confirmation page. The deadline to fill out the form is Sunday, April 20th at 11:59pm ET. Selected individuals will be notified via email by EOD Wednesday, April 23rd to schedule their session. If you don’t get a slot this time, don’t worry—we’re exploring ways to offer more opportunities like this in the future.
