Carbon Sponge

During this event at La Casita Verde, Carbon Sponge will present its work with farmers in Hudson Valley to grow sorghum to feed both soil and food. La Casita Verde is a GreenThumb community garden that has been growing sorghum with Carbon Sponge this season. Participants from the gallery installation at Stand4Gallery will bring their harvests sorghum stalks. Together we will thresh the grain, press the stalks for juice and enjoy sorghum snacks together. We will celebrate the life of the plant, collaborative learning and mutual caretaking. The project will foreground local food and food sovereignty movements as well as nature-based solutions to climate change and the importance of urban green infrastructure.
